Sky: How failure to get De Ketelaere would substantially change Milan’s mercato plans

AC Milan’s market strategy could change in a big way if they do not get Charles De Ketelaere from Club Brugge, a report claims.

According to a report from Gianluca Di Marzio for Sky (via MilanEye), Milan will meet Club Brugge to understand if there are the margins to sign De Ketelaere for around €32m, and there is a chance they could yet walk away.

If they feel that Club Brugge are trying to create a bidding war using offers from the Premier League (Leeds have been strongly linked), Milan would end talks and go for a player like Hakim Ziyech of Chelsea.

Therefore, there is a crossroads at present. If Milan successfully close the deal for De Ketelaere they will then go to reinforce the remaining departments with a central midfielder and a centre-back that will not cost too much.

If they get Ziyech (most likely on an initial loan) they will pursue a more costly midfielder or defender, thus diverting some of the available funds.
