Father of Tigre striker addresses rumours of talks with Milan over summer move

The father of Mateo Retegui has denied speaking with AC Milan despite the rumours that they are interested in signing the striker from Tigre.

A number of different sources have been reporting that Milan have set their sights on Retegui as they look for a centre-forward to take the baton from Olivier Giroud and lead the line in the years to come.

In Pietro Mazzara’s latest column for MilanNews, he reported that Milan scouts are watching Retegui – who is currently on loan at Tigre from Boca Juniors and has scored six goals in six games this season – and believe he has characteristics that are ‘ideal for modern football and what Pioli wants to do’.

Carlos Retegui – the father of Mateo – spoke about his son during an interview with calciomercato.com and he was asked about the speculation that Milan are in talks or are lining up a bid.

“He is very attached to the club that helped him and believed in him. He has a good relationship with the managers and with coach Martinez,” he said.

“Milan? We have never talked to them, but we have  with other clubs. We have had contacts with teams from Serie A, the Premier League, LaLiga and the Bundesliga.

“Udinese looked for him in January, but my son preferred to stay at Tigre to finish the season there. Even before the call-up to the national team we had talked to important teams, now maybe others will arrive.”
