Fonseca looks ahead to USA tour: “Desire and ambition to continue to grow”

AC Milan’s new head coach Paulo Fonseca has let it be known that he is happy with what he has seen in the first part of preseason preparations, ahead of the trip to the United States.

Fonseca began working with the Milan squad on July 8 so he has had less than three weeks to try and get his ideas across. Not only that, but the fact that several star players are away on post-tournament vacation has not helped matters.

Milan faced Rapid Wien in their first friendly of the preseason on Saturday and while there was a clear physical difference between the two sides, Rossoneri fans still got to see some glimpses of ‘Paulo Fonseca ball’.

Tougher tests are around the corner starting on Saturday night when Premier League champions Manchester City will be the opponents in New York. Games against Real Madrid in Chicago and Barcelona in Baltimore follow.

In a post on his social media profile, Fonseca sent a message to the Milan fans on the eve of their departure across the Atlantic, expressing positivity about how preseason is going.

“Satisfied with the first part of the work at Milanello, now we leave for the second part in the United States, with the same desire and ambition to continue to grow. Forza Milan!”
