Fonseca looks ahead to USA tour: “Desire and ambition to continue to grow”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s new head coach Paulo Fonseca has let it be known that he is happy with what he has seen in the first part of preseason preparations, ahead of the trip to the United States.

Fonseca began working with the Milan squad on July 8 so he has had less than three weeks to try and get his ideas across. Not only that, but the fact that several star players are away on post-tournament vacation has not helped matters.

Milan faced Rapid Wien in their first friendly of the preseason on Saturday and while there was a clear physical difference between the two sides, Rossoneri fans still got to see some glimpses of ‘Paulo Fonseca ball’.

Tougher tests are around the corner starting on Saturday night when Premier League champions Manchester City will be the opponents in New York. Games against Real Madrid in Chicago and Barcelona in Baltimore follow.

In a post on his social media profile, Fonseca sent a message to the Milan fans on the eve of their departure across the Atlantic, expressing positivity about how preseason is going.

“Satisfied with the first part of the work at Milanello, now we leave for the second part in the United States, with the same desire and ambition to continue to grow. Forza Milan!”

  1. I feel sorry for foncesca because currently teams like Inter, Napoli, Juventus and maybe even Roma are ahead of us. You would have expected a big signing like Douglas Louis for Juve or Soule for Roma. Yet we can’t even spend 25 million on a player even though financially we are better than those clubs.

  2. I expect nothing from fronseca because I don’t rate him. I never have at roma and I won’t at milan. I’ll let this play out. I expect him to get sacked in 2 seasons.

I expect nothing different from pioli.

  3. i disagree with both of you on fonseca ability but agree with you on the management lack of diligence in the transfer market.

at present without this signings Milan is still healthy. we only need this engines to have a nitro boost as much competition will be played.

the most powerful boost the management know is the DM but looking at it. Honestly speaking Tonali is the best one i can think of. milan failed him as they should have known internally that he has a gambling habit and would have corrected this. now we have spend and will spend much more the fee he was sold for to fix a position he never should have left.

joke on furlani and moca tho .

but Fonseca stat with milan will beat that of pioli and will we have a competitive year. whoever wins
