GdS: The search for a fixed role – Fonseca seeks clarity on Musah and Loftus-Cheek

AC Milan’s midfield department looks set to undergo some changes before the window closes but the future of Yunus Musah and Ruben Loftus-Cheek does not seem to be in danger, a report claims.

La Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that Youssouf Fofana is getting closer to Milan and is ‘one step away’, with a fixed sum of €14m having been agreed with Monaco. Just the bonuses remain to be resolved, with personal terms agreed.

Discussions are ongoing with Lazar Samardzic’s father-agent too as the Rossoneri look to add some creativity to their midfield ranks, and that could spell bad news for both Yacine Adli and Tommaso Pobega who are on the sidelines.

What about the others? The paper states that Fonseca will work with Musah, who he will meet directly in the United States when the tour there begins. In his first season the former Valencia was used 40 times, with 22 starts, and now he is looking for a fixed position.

Loftus-Cheek is a player that Fonseca sees as being able to contribute both in the attacking and defensive phase, while the possible arrival of Samardzic could push the ex-Chelsea man back into a double pivot, or he could remain closer to the striker.
