GdS: Giroud says yes to Maldini and Milan – the reasons he is stimulated by the challenge

AC Milan appear to be very close to securing the signing of Olivier Giroud as a free agent, according to a report.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports that Milan have chosen Giroud for some time as the man they want to reinforce the centre-forward department, and now he too seems to have chosen the Rossoneri. The paper claims that Giroud is ready to say yes to Maldini because he wants an experience in Serie A and being part of Milan’s return to the Champions League fascinates him more than other hypotheses.

The French striker is attracted by the idea of playing for such a prestigious club and also the idea of being Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s deputy, and that is why he has rejected the other proposals. The 34-year-old knows he is a good fit for the 4-2-3-1 and that with the Rossoneri he would have a better chance of playing.

The negotiation is continuing in the right direction, and Giroud would like to continue earning €4m net per season for two years. The Growth Decree helps Milan as he would qualify for a 50% tax discount, too.
