AC Milan are very happy with the exploits of Olivier Giroud and they are working on the extension of his contract, according to a report.

Alfredo Pedulla’s latest from La Gazzetta dello Sport writes that Giroud hopes to be called up for the World Cup by France and his chances have been boosted precisely because of his continuing trend of scoring important goals for Milan.
Negotiations and talks have begun for the renewal of his contract – which is currently set to expire in 2024 – and if they get it over the line then then Maldini and Massara will make assessments on how the centre-forward department should look heading into next season given Giroud is 36 and Zlatan Ibrahimovic might retire.
There are some strikers who cost €30m and are perhaps a few years younger in age who take a long time to adapt, while Giroud joined Milan for a token €1m fee after being one step away from Inter and also close to Lazio and it has proven to be a masterstroke.
It is a deal within the Milan project which is aimed at signing talented young players and supporting them with quality players who have experience. Giroud has a salary of about €3.5m net per season, so he is behind only Origi and Theo in the squad.
Giroud’s renewal could therefore include a pay rise as a reward for the important goals he has scored and the Rossoneri may possibly insert an option until 2025.
Milan will then have to complete the attacking department after resolving the Rafael Leao renewal issue, and it could well result in an investment on a younger player. Gianluca Scamacca was followed before his big money move to West Ham, while Armando Broja of Chelsea and Noah Okafor of Salzburg seem to currently be on the list.
