AC Milan have issued an ultimatum to the city council as they want to accelerate their project to build a new stadium, according to a report.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive) the new stadium project is currently on stand-by for various reasons, namely the change of ownership at Milan, the problems linked to the Covid pandemic and the recent elections in the city.
However, optimism filters that the clubs will get the green light from mayor Giuseppe Sala, but the process so far shows that it has not been straightforward and the public interest process could add further delays.
The clubs are ready to give a sort of ultimatum to the city leaders: by October, an agreement must be reached on volume, public utility and feasibility of the architectural project. Further delays will not be tolerated by AC Milan and the RedBird ownership.
That is why Gerry Cardinale has kept the door open to Plan B which is the Sesto San Giovanni option, an area of the city that the new Milan owner has already seen in person.
