GdS: Milan not giving up on €35m signing – he will be the centre of the future project

Striker Rafael Leao will be one player that AC Milan build around for the future despite his disappointing first season at the club, a report claims.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport reports (via MilanNews), Leao arrived last summer with very high expectations with the Rossoneri having paid €35million snatch him from Lille.

When Zlatan Ibrahimovic returned in January, many were convinced that the Swede could be what Leao needed – especially after their first couple of games up front together – but in the end it is Ante Rebic who has exploded.

Despite this, the paper claims that the Portugal starlet will have a future as a protagonist. He is a player that the management admire, but he will have to mature without Zvonimir Boban, who was always a big supporter of the 20-year-old, and without Ibra.

Leao must put in a lot of work both tactically and technically, and in terms of his attitude. It must then be understood what role he will play next season with a lot dependant on who is the head coach.
