AC Milan would face competition from their city rivals Inter if they made a move to re-sign Matteo Pessina, according to a report.
Pessina came through the youth academy at Milan but was sent to Atalanta back in 2017 as part of the operation that saw Andrea Conti move the other way. However, they kept a 50% resale clause which would essentially mean he could return at half price, and Calciomercato.com are among the sources to have recently reported Milan’s interest in bringing him back.
La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive) writes how Inter are looking for a reinforcement in midfield to assist Simone Inzaghi’s 3-5-2, and Matteo Pessina is the first choice target for the Nerazzurri. They must first sell two players to fund the move though in Radja Nainggolan (close to re-joining Cagliari) and Joao Mario.
Inter’s management met the player’s agent, Beppe Riso, yesterday and he is trying to find the right team for a negotiation. If Milan saw Pessina as the ideal replacement for Hakan Calhanoglu, they would find themselves competing once again with their city rival.
