This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below) has their ratings for the game, starting with the team’s overall performance which was deserving of a 6 out of 10, while Stefano Pioli was given the same grade for his management of the game.
The best player was Theo Hernandez who got a 7, with Sergino Dest going down as the flop of the match, getting a 5 as he came off the bench and gave away a silly penalty early in the second half.
Mike Maignan was given a 6, while three defenders struggled in Davide Calabria (5.5), Simon Kjaer (5.5) and Fikayo Tomori (5), the latter of whom was stranded for Simeone’s winning goal.
Ismael Bennacer (6.5) and Sandro Tonali (6) did well in the double pivot, with Alexis Saelemaekers and Sergino Dest receiving a 6 for their efforts in the attack. Rade Krunic and Olivier Giroud got half a mark higher.
From the substitutes bench, both Pierre Kalulu and Brahim Diaz were given a 6.
