GdS: No good news for Rebic – he is set to miss Roma trip with ankle pain

After initial optimism, it seems as though Ante Rebic will not recover in time for AC Milan’s trip to face Roma on Sunday, according to a report.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive) writes that the condition of Rebic is being monitored at Milanello but the bad news is that the Croatian striker still feels some pain and the medical staff do not intend to risk him because it could result in more damage.

Although there is no ligament damage involved, playing with pain could certainly worsen the problem and that is why Rebic is unlikely to even make the squad for the trip south to the capital. It is a big blow for Pioli and Milan as Rebic’s goal at the Stadio Olimpico last season ended up being the match-winner.

However, he should be back for Champions League clash on Wednesday against Porto, which has become a do-or-die game for the Rossoneri.
