There is good news filtering from the AC Milan camp regarding Gianluigi Donnarumma’s injury problem, according to a report.
In the 13th minute of Saturday night’s 1-1 draw against Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, Donnarumma almost gave the ball away to Federico Chiesa and in his recovery attempt it was clear afterwards that he sustained an ankle issue.
The 20-year-old tried to continue but could not, and was ultimately replaced by Asmir Begovic who did an outstanding job. After the game, head coach Stefano Pioli revealed his belief that Donnarumma had sustained a sprain to his right ankle, which is of course his kicking foot.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport – as cited by MilanLive – the Italy international will undergo new tests on Monday, but there seems to be no particular apprehension regarding the injury.
The worst outcome is that he misses Milan vs. Genoa on Sunday – a game which could be played behind closed doors as per the latest reports – but his absence should not go beyond a game.
