GdS: Petagna’s return to Milan offered up by agents – the response

AC Milan have been offered the chance to re-sign Andrea Petagna from Monza as their hunt for a new striker continues, a report claims.

Petagna started his career in Milan’s youth system, where he was a member of the under-15 squad who won the title in 2010. He worked his way up through the ranks and made his senior debut in December 2012, coming on as a substitute in a Champions League group stage game against Zenit St. Petersburg.

He would make just three appearances before leaving for Atalanta in 2016 after loan spells with Sampdoria, Latina, Vicenza and Ascoli. He would play for Ascoli again and SPAL, where he became prolific and earned a move to Napoli.

The 28-year-old’s most recent move saw him join Monza on a loan with obligation to buy deal and – after having scored four goals for them last season – it did become a permanent.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), in the last few days Petagna was offered to Milan by his entourage but the negotiation did not take off.

Now, it seems that the centre-forward is the first choice target for newly-promoted Cagliari, and the Rossoneri are instead focusing their efforts on signing Hugo Ekitike from PSG.
