GdS: Pioli insists Milan are ‘missing a defender’ – the name circled in red

Stefano Pioli confirmed during his pre-Roma press conference yesterday that the AC Milan management are still looking for a defender, and they reportedly have a name circled in red.

The return of Matteo Gabbia and the signing of Filippo Terracciano certainly helped remove the ’emergency’ aspect of Milan’s centre-back depth issues, but with Pierre Kalulu, Malick Thiaw and Fikayo Tomori out for some time yet more help is needed.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below) recall that Pioli used his presser yesterday at Milanello to send a request to the club: “Gabbia arrived, Terracciano arrived, we filled our difficulties a bit but we are certainly still missing a defender.”

Geoffrey Moncada and his team are evaluating and while they are not closing the door to the arrival of another central defender, it’s not a guarantee that one will definitely arrive. Instead, if there is an opportunity to seize, Milan will do so with pleasure.

Lilian Brassier of Brest is a player that they like a lot, as Moncada himself admitted a couple of weeks ago, while the player would be happy to make the switch too. Finding a meeting point with the Ligue 1 club over a fee is the difficult part.
