GdS: Probable XIs for Milan vs. Newcastle – a change in each department

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is set to make three changes to his side for tonight’s game against Newcastle United, the first in the Champions League group stages.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) reports that Mike Maignan will get the nod in goal with Davide Calabria, Fikayo Tomori, Malick Thiaw and Theo Hernandez as the back four from left to right.

That means that Tomori is back into the side after serving a suspension during the defeat against Inter on Saturday, while in midfield Tommaso Pobega is expected to come in for Tijjani Reijnders.

The Dutchman would therefore get a rest, but Rade Krunic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek keep their places, as Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud do in attack. However, Christian Pulisic is expected to be rested, with Samuel Chukwueze down as the right winger.

Probable Milan XI (4-3-3): Maignan; Calabria, Tomori, Thiaw, Theo Hernandez; Loftus-Cheek, Krunic, Pobega; Chukwueze, Giroud, Leao.

Probable Newcastle XI (4-3-3): Pope; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn; Tonali, Guimaraes, Longstaff; Almiron, Isak, Gordon.
