GdS: ’The pupil of Fonseca’ – Lille defender could arrive at Milan with new head coach

AC Milan may look to bring Lille defender Tiago Santos to the club at the same time as signing Paulo Fonseca from the French club as head coach.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Rossoneri may not just take one element from Lille this summer as they are showing serious interest in the Portuguese defender, Santos.

Santos has followed a very similar career path to Rafael Leao, growing up in the Sporting CP academy before making the move to Lille, via Estoril. He has scored three goals in 43 games this season and could be a new right-back option for Milan next season.

Santos is viewed as a player that Fonseca has developed a lot last season and someone he would happily continue working with if the opportunity arose. Milan want a player who can provide competition for Davide Calabria and perhaps even replace the Italian in the future.

At just 21 years old, Santos has an impressive amount of experience and has the time to develop into a key player.

As well as his three goals, he also got two assists and was hailed as one of the best wide players in Ligue 1, someone that Fonseca would like to continue coaching.
