AC Milan have seven exciting Primavera players that are developing into potential pieces for the future, a report has outlined.
Although there have been turbulent times recently for the Rossoneri’s youth side – culminating in relegation to the second tier – things are looking brighter again and a potential play-off berth beckons.
La Gazzetta dello Sport have picked out seven players in particular who could well be destined for a future in the senior side, starting with a familiar name in Daniel Maldini (21 years old) who made his Serie A debut in 2019-20. He remains Milan’s best talent and returned to training after a long muscle problem.
Giacomo Olzer (20) is the next player to get a mention and he tends to play as either a winger or as a supporting striker, having shown excellent things by staying in the Primavera. He has an unusual physique for the role (close to 1.90m tell) which allows him to score even with his head – with 7 goals scored in 12 Primavera games.
Next is Emil Roback (17), who Milan paid €2m for to sign from Hammarby, the club where Ibrahimovic is a part-owner. The idea was for him to have a few months in the Primavera, and then play in the senior side, but the Swede doesn’t seem ready yet as he disappears in games and has just 2 goals in 15 appearances. The potential is there though, as is the quality and versatility.
Another attacker is picked out in Gabriele El Hilali (17), who is in the top ten of the players most used by manager Federico Giunti this year. He has 5 goals in 17 games although he is not a pure striker, but an attacking midfielder who adapts to being a winger, and even a centre-forward if needed. He is very fast and technical, with a Moroccan father and Italian mother, having has already worn the Azzurri shirt several times at youth level.
Alessio Brambilla (19) plays central midfielder like his father Massimo, whom he faces twice a year given that he coaches Atalanta. Alessio has practically always worn the captain’s armband, with a tall and slender physique but great technique and tactical intelligence, with a knack for going on forward runs.
Right-back Luca Stanga (19) is the sixth name, and he used to be a centre-back when he first came through. Because of this, if he has to defend he does. He runs well, gets stuck in often and technically he is sound.
Finally, left-back Milos Kerkez (18) makes the list. Riccardo Oddi lost his place with the arrival of the Hungarian Kerkez in January, who was already a starter at Eto Fc Győr in the second division. Now he has become the youngest starter of the Rossoneri Primavera, who for him often change formation from 4-3-3 to 3-4-3 to play him as a wing-back. He is very fast, good at dribbling and crossing.
