GdS: Villarreal made last-minute attempt to hijack Milan’s signing of Origi

Divock Origi is expected to be AC Milan’s first signing of the summer and it could even be completed in the coming days. There hasn’t been a shortage of suitors for the striker who, in the end, stayed true to the Rossoneri.

The Belgian striker will be a free agent after June 30th and Milan have been linked with him for several months. An agreement has been reached between the parties and the medical will be completed soon.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), Villarreal made a last-minute attempt to hijack Milan’s signing of Origi. The latter even received a higher contract offer but made it clear that he has decided to join the Italian champions.

While the rest of Milan’s mercato has been blocked by the imminent takeover of RedBird, the Origi signing has never been questioned mainly because it’s a free transfer. And it seems an announcement is now imminent for that as well.
