Giroud discusses important goalscoring milestone and facing Chelsea with Milan

Olivier Giroud scored his 301st career goal in the derby between AC Milan and Inter last night, meaning he hit a very important milestone in the game against Bologna. An achievement he’s understandably proud of.

The Frenchman was one of the key players for Milan during the Scudetto season and he has certainly started this term in a positive manner as well, bagging two goals and one assist in five games. Yesterday, he scored another important derby goal.

As mentioned, it was the 301st goal in his career and that means he reached the important 300 milestone with the impressive goal against Bologna. Speaking to Telefoot, as cited by our colleagues at SempreMilan.it, he spoke about the milestone and also facing Chelsea in the Champions League.

“It’s a good number, I’m proud to have reached this milestone. Now my aim is to not stop there. The best goals? The volley in France-Sweden, the bicycle kicks with Chelsea against Atletico Madrid and with Arsenal against the Red Star.”

“Chelsea? I left but we have remained on good terms, as with all the clubs I have left. To face Chelsea with the Milan shirt is fantastic, I think it will be a good moment. I still feel motivated and determined to do well, as long as I’m physically well I would like to continue playing. I talked about it with Ibra, he also thinks like me and is still hungry for victories,” he stated.

Milan will begin their Champions League campaign on Tuesday evening, taking on RB Salzburg away from home. Giroud has started three consecutive games and might get some rest, as Divock Origi has now recovered from his injury.
