It is hard to think of a time when Olivier Giroud has been in better form, and AC Milan are reportedly ready to display their faith in him.

Calciomercato.com report that at 36 years of age Giroud continues to make a difference, with performances fitting of a status of leader and goals that have had a huge bearing on the season already.
The goal that earned all three points against Spezia on Saturday night was Giroud’s fifth in the league so far this season and his ninth overall having netted four times in the Champions League too, with a total of 18 appearances this season thus far.
Giroud continues to demonstrate that when it comes to the crunch time he is capable of scoring the big goals which is exactly what Paolo Maldini hoped would be the case when he insisted on signing him from Chelsea in 2021.
The 36-year-old’s deal expires at the end of the season but there is the will on both sides to continue together. There is an agreement in principle to extend it by a year until 2024 with the salary of €3.5m to be maintained.
Everything is postponed to January, however, after the World Cup. That is because Giroud should take part in the tournament, with Didier Deschamps expected to name him in his squad in Wednesday’s announcement.
