How Milan could line up against Salernitana – two doubts for Pioli

After the disappointing 3-0 loss to PSV Eindhoven, we now have a pretty good idea of what AC Milan’s starting XI will look like for the game against Salernitana. For Stefano Pioli, there are two key doubts.

The Rossoneri need to bounce back with a strong performance after losing all three of their friendly games this winter. While there have been some returns from injuries, it’s clear Pioli still needs to work with this group ahead of the resumption.

The biggest doubt is the goalkeeping position. Antonio Mirante played 60 minutes against PSV but it was a rather shaky performance. That position, therefore, remains rather open as Ciprian Tatarusanu has been solid overall.

In addition to that, the centre-forward role will most likely be occupied by Ante Rebic. He didn’t have a good game against PSV but Pioli has no intention of rushing Olivier Giroud back into action, although the upcoming training sessions will be decisive.

Update: Rebic and Ballo-Toure have both sustained injuries and will miss the game.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Mirante (Tatarusanu); Calabria, Kalulu, Tomori, Theo; Bennacer, Tonali; Saelemaekers, Diaz, Leao; Giroud.
