Over the past 24 hours, since Milan lost yet another game at home against Atalanta, there has been talk of another imminent revolution. Everyone is in the crosshairs, and missing out on a Champions League spot could be the spark that sets off yet another ‘big bang’ revolution.
Ibrahimovic to profit
According to Corriere della Sera (via Calciomercato.com), Ibrahimovic is ‘said to be waiting in the background for a possible new change at the top of the club’. Having been sidelined a bit over the past few months, the changes could see him rise to prominence again.
Owner Gerry Cardinale is based is considering making changes that could spare no one. The person who could benefit from the possible departure of sporting director Igli Tare and CEO Giorgio Furlani is Zlatan.
Having been a partner of Cardinale since December 2023, the Swede is involved in various RedBird activities with a focus primarily on the sporting side. Last season he had been the link between the management and the team, but had taken more of a back seat in 2025-26.
He also oversaw (in tandem with the new director Jovan Kirovski) the creation and growth of the second team project, Milan Futuro. That is now in its second year and recently eliminated from the Serie D play-offs after being relegated from Serie C last season.
The unfortunate outcome and conclusion of last season (finishing eighth, with two failed coaching appointments) led Ibrahimovic to increasingly withdraw, starting in the summer when Igli Tare was appointed sporting director and Massimiliano Allegri was appointed coach.
Now, Corriere della Sera conclude, his possible return with a more prominent role would once again become a topic of discussion if Cardinale were to truly undertake a thorough overhaul of the entire sporting side.
