CorSport: Inconsistency of current duo forces Milan to strengthen attack – the three targets

AC Milan’s right flank has been a weakness in their attack this season compared to the excellence of Rafael Leao on the other wing.

As Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports, Alexis Saelemaekers – after a good start to the season – suffered a prolonged dip in performance level and lost his starting position to Junior Messias.

Speaking of Messias, who arrived on loan with option to buy from Crotone on deadline day last summer, the Brazilian missed the first few months due to physical problems, returning in November and December when he had an excellent impact. However, as the months went by, he too became more inconsistent.

For these reasons, Milan will try to strengthen the right wing ahead of the 2022-23 season and another season in the Champions League. The return of Gerard Deulofeu is a possibility, but Sassuolo’s Domenico Berardi and Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio remain on the list too.
