Juventus 2-1 Milan Women: Report and ratings as Rossonere suffer tough defeat

Milan Women vs. Juve

AC Milan Women suffered yet another youth defeat earlier today as Juventus prevailed 2-1 on their home turf. The situation in the standings is now looking rather dire, with the Rossoneri in eighth place (out of ten) after 12 games.

As highlighted by our colleagues at SempreMilan.it, it was a good performance overall but the Rossonere lacked cynicism in front of goal. Staskova, for example, missed a big chance at the start of the second half which would have put Milan ahead.

Instead, Cantore sealed the Juventus victory after an individual feat a few moments later. The race for the Champions League is now looking rather difficult, given that if Inter and Como were to win tomorrow, they would move +10 and +8 respectively from Davide Corti’s team.

The player ratings

Giuliani 6: Not guilty of Cantore’s great goal, perhaps she could have done something more on the first…

Bergamaschi 6: She limited herself to being a defensive full-back, and didn’t push forward much.

Piga 6: The real signing of the summer market is undoubtedly Julie. She defended with order.

Swaby 5.5: Lost her player on the first goal, otherwise the match was spotless. She had the chance to equalize in the final minutes but failed to connect with the ball.

Guagni 6: The “oldest” of the team but still runs like a twenty-year-old. She puts her heart into it, also extinguishing market rumours.

Grimshaw 6: She put in her heart, tenacity and usual personality but they are not enough against a Juve who are not perfect but solid with Caruso and Gunnarsdottir.

Cernoia 5.5: Good first half, second half with many errors in the setup phase, a little cumbersome. She also received a yellow card.

Vigilucci 6: Usual match of substance and sacrifice (exits in the 84th minute, replaced by Rubio Avila).

Laurent 6: Always has the feeling of being dangerous, she also had a couple of chances but didn’t exploit them properly.

Staskova 5.5: Got back to scoring (temporary equaliser) but missed the possible 2-1, a mistake that was costly in terms of the final result. In her place Dompig (5.5, no impact).

Asllani 6: She tried to support the offensive maneuver, defended the balls and created some chances. We always expect something more from her.
