CorSport: Background on Kessie-Milan talks as Barcelona lead Spurs, PSG in race to sign him

Franck Kessié will leave Milan on a free transfer in the summer transfer market and he seems to be on his way to Barcelona, a report claims.

As reported by il Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan), Barcelona are pushing strongly to land Kessié and soon they will have an important meeting with his agent George Atangana to define his contract with the Blaugrana active from July 1.

Kessie has long since decided not to extend his contract – expiring on 30 June – with the Rossoneri and decided to look around in search of the best economic offer. He has received offers from the Premier League but the idea of joining Barcelona has enticed him a lot.

However, there is still no definitive agreement on the figures between the Ivorian and Barça, who offered him €6.5m net per season plus bonuses until June 2027 while Atangana’s request is €8m net per year, plus a large commission upon signing.

In the next few days there will be new contacts between Kessié and Barcelona to try to close immediately, before the summer window, because Tottenham and Newcastle in England and PSG in France remain vigilant in case the operation falls through.

Kessie receives €2.2m net per season at the moment and Milan offered €5m for the first year, €5.5m for the second and €6m, which would have then risen to €6.5m for the fourth and fifth year of the contract.

Kessie never opened to the hypothesis of renewal so he will see out his last few months before following the path that Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Çalhanoğlu took.
