CM: Kessie hoping for perfect San Siro farewell with Atalanta a protagonist again

Franck Kessie is about to play his last two games as an AC Milan player before he leaves on a free transfer, and he wants to sign off in style.

Calciomercato.com report how Kessie’s time in Italy – after spells at Atalanta, Cesena and Milan – is coming to an end. Kessie will leave the Rossoneri as he has already signed with Barcelona and from 1 July his new adventure in Catalonia will begin.

It is a move that has split Milan fans, some of whom still choose to jeer the reading of his name by the PA system at San Siro, angry after his interview in the summer which made his renewal seem like a formality, but others do not begrudge him the chance to try something different after half a decade.

On Sunday at 6pm Kessie will have his San Siro curtain call and there is plenty of motivation: beating his former team Atalanta would bring Milan to only one point from winning the title, and would provide the perfect stage to say goodbye.

Atalanta always seem to be a protagonist in Kessie’s story too, after playing for them, losing 5-0 against the Nerazzurri in Bergamo and then scoring a brace in the 2-0 victory at the Gewiss Stadium to secure Champions League qualification.
