Lazio defender Nicolo Casale has stressed that his teammates need to look forward to their match against AC Milan rather than dwelling on their game against Inter.
Speaking during an interview with Lazio Style Channel (via Pianeta Milan), the defender was asked about the mentality of the team after losing 3-1 at San Siro against Inter on Sunday.
Lazio had taken the lead in the first half but ended up losing the game after two Lautaro Martinez goals and another from Robin Gosens.
Casale explained that the team needs to put that game behind them quickly so they can prepare to face Sassuolo in midweek, and then Milan at the weekend which is a huge game in the context of the Champions League qualification race.
“We need to roll up our sleeves because we are still high up in the standings. Let’s keep our heads down, today we had a great opportunity that we failed to exploit. We’re working towards Sassuolo and then we’ll play Milan in a week’s time. I hope the team don’t think they’ve hit the target, the other teams can get back on track in a few games,” Casale said.
Lazio were in a position of strength in second place up until the last two games where they were beaten by Torino and then Inter. There is now just four points between Lazio in second and AS Roma in sixth.
