L’Equipe: Milan could replace captain with promising Ligue 1 defender – the price tag

Alessio Romagnoli lost his starting spot to Fikayo Tomori in the second half of this past season, forced to sit on the bench for most of the time. Therefore, he has also been linked with a move this summer.

And that isn’t the only reason, as the Milan captain’s contract with the club will expire in the summer of 2022. If the Rossoneri can’t reach an agreement on renewal, they would need to sell him this summer to avoid a free transfer.

According to L’Equipe, as cited by MilanNews, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara could replace Romagnoli with Lens defender Loic Bade. The 21-year-old has attracted the interest of the management and would fit the club’s project.

However, the problem is the price tag that Lens have slapped on their defender, valued at €25m. Of course, this is too much for Milan especially since he wouldn’t be a starter, but perhaps there are ways to lower the price.
