Milan are looking for a third midfield signing after wrapping up agreements for Luka Modric and Samuele Ricci. Xhaka is one of the names that has been linked the most, and he would provide some experience in the regista role, as well as leadership.
However, the idea seems to have gone colder in recent days while Ardon Jashari of Club Brugge is now the name in vogue. This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport even suggested that Javi Guerra of Valencia is more likely to arrive.
‘There have been no negotiations’
Now, their sporting director Simon Rolfes has once again commented on the rumours that continue to link Xhaka with a switch to the Rossoneri. Speaking to Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, he denied any negotiations had taken place.
“There has been a lot of speculation about an alleged move to Milan, but there have been no negotiations. I told Granit after the last game of the season that he remains an important player for us,” he said (via Francesco Nasato).
