AC Milan want to sign Naby Keita on a free transfer once his contract with Liverpool expires at the end of the season, a report claims.
According to the Mirror, Milan will ‘step up their interest’ in signing Keita as he looks set to leave Anfield on a Bosman as his contract is up at the end of the season and he is no longer a big part of the club’s planned.
Liverpool signed the 27-year-old from RB Leipzig in 2018 for £51.6million (€58.4m now) in what was a club record deal, but he has never really hit the heights expected due to injury problems and now he can sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs.
Jurgen Klopp is ‘unlikely to stand in his way’ as well as he knows there is a need to overhaul the midfield. Keita has amassed 127 appearances for the Reds, scoring 11 goals, but only in two seasons has he made 30 or more appearances in all competitions.
The Guinea international could therefore follow the same path as Divock Origi as the Belgian moved to the Rossoneri last summer on a free transfer.
