AC Milan have confirmed that Ruben Loftus-Cheek underwent surgery after his nasty injury during Sunday’s game against Parma.

There was a rather sickening moment in the first few minutes of the 1-0 defeat at San Siro. Alexis Saelemaekers sent in a rabona cross that Loftus-Cheek tried to meet, but his head collided with the goalkeeper Corvi, and he had to be taken off.
Not only that, but the medical staff quickly called for a stretcher and the English midfielder went off with a neck brace on. After the game it became apparent that it was quite a serious issue, and there was talk of it requiring surgery that would see his season ended early.
The statement on the official website reads as follows: “AC Milan announce that Ruben Loftus-Cheek suffered a significant facial trauma yesterday, which resulted in a fracture of the alveolar process of the jaw.
“The player was admitted to the Maxillofacial Surgery and Dental Clinic department of ASST Santi Paolo e Carlo, where today he underwent surgery performed by Dr. Luca Autelitano.
“The operation to reduce and stabilise the fracture was completely successful. Ruben is doing well and has already been discharged. The estimated recovery time is around eight weeks.”
Two months would mean that Loftus-Cheek will certainly miss the Cremonese (A), Inter (H), Lazio (A), Torino (H), Napoli (A), Udinese (H) and Verona (A) games. Juventus (H) on 26 April could be targeted for a return, with Sassuolo (A), Atalanta (H), Genoa (A) and Cagliari (H) coming after that to close out the season.
