AC Milan are facing an uphill battle in their La Maura pursuit. While both the Milan mayor and Lombardy president seem to be on board, the local politicians have decided to shut down the idea before even seeing the project.

Milan are keen on building their new stadium in the La Maura area but the idea has been met with nothing but critique from the local politicians. A situation that is quite bizarre given that Milan haven’t even presented their project yet.
In his latest editorial for MilanNews, Andrea Longoni discussed what would have been a ‘laughable’ situation if it hadn’t been for the serious matter. Before even seeing the project, the politicians have displayed ‘arrogance’ by blasting the idea.
These local politicians clearly have a personal agenda against any sort of development for the city. After the San Siro stalling, Milan moved on to La Maura but are receiving the same treatment there.
The main issue, among many others, is that the politicians are speaking on behalf of the citizens without actually discussing the matter. ‘No one wants a stadium there’, they say, which is a dangerous statement since it’s not true.
Furthermore, the public debate for the San Siro area was in favour of the clubs and still, nothing happened. Milan, in 2023, is an enigma with an increasing gap to other European cities.
