Maldini discusses Mandzukic ‘risk’ and provides updates on Donnarumma and Ibrahimovic

Milan will face Parma in less than ten minutes and following the draw against Sampdoria, a win is necessary in order to stay comfortable in the top-four race. Then again, the race is tighter than ever.

The Rossoneri must finish in the top four after the season they have had, sitting in first place for a majority of it, and it would be a disaster to not secure their Champions League return. Not just sporting-wise, but also off the pitch.

Paolo Maldini will have a much better budget to work with if they can secure a top-four finish, which is why there is so much pressure. In an interview with Sky Italia (via MilanNews), the director spoke about a few topics.

On the return of Mandzukic…

“He’s sorry because he thought he was in a different condition. We knew there was this risk. He feels strong but the injury is a physiological thing.”

On the renewal of Donnarumma…

“These are choices everyone has to make. I am not here to judge, I am here to do what is best for the club. I also know that you need two parties to be happy in order to strike a deal.”

On the other renewals, in particular that of Ibrahimovic…

“I can tell you about Ibrahimovic and I can reveal that we are very close. Only a few details are missing.”

As mentioned, Milan need the three points this evening and anything other than a win would be very disappointing. After all, the Rossoneri are clear favourites to win this encounter.
