CM.it: Maldini and Massara ask for more power to renew – Lang case caused frustration

AC Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have still not renewed their contracts at the club because they are awaiting guarantees, a report claims.

Calciomercato.it report that contacts between all parties are constant, and new owners RedBird Capital – led by Gerry Cardinale – are absolutely aware that it would be a bad sign to lose Maldini and Massara early in their ownership.

One of the issues that slows down the closing for the renewal is linked to the margins of autonomy. The directors want to operate on the market without having to wait for various approvals and without having to wait for financial bureaucracies that slow down operations.

Maldini and Massara would like to have the opportunity to move and seal deals at a pace they see fit, therefore asking for an increase in power, because they know speed is needed to seize certain openings.

The Noa Lang situation is an example as he was practically all secured by the Rossoneri but the difficulties in actually closing there operation led to discontent. With Lang – as with other targets – there is the feeling that repeated slowdowns can allow other clubs to swoop more decisively.
