CM: Maldini and Pioli send a message to Romagnoli and Kessie over renewal

The AC Milan management have sent a strong message to Alessio Romagnoli and Franck Kessie over their futures, a report claims.

According to Calciomercato.com, the statements of Paolo Maldini and Stefano Pioli before and after the game is message that is anything but veiled with regards to players on expiring contracts, namely Kessie and Romagnoli.

The first statement came from Maldini when talking about Locatelli as he aimed a bit of a dig at a group of players past and present.

“Locatelli? We asked him to remain, he asked to leave. At Milan only those who are motivated and want to stay remain.” It is a clear message aimed at the Italian centre-back and the Ivorian midfielder, showing that the Rossoneri will try to keep players of value but the desire must be mutual.

Then, Pioli indirectly emphasised the concept after the game in his praise of Tonali, Leao and Brahim Diaz, who are finding more and more playing time having chosen to stay.

“I’m very happy with the guys who are growing up. They have great availability, they have tenacity, quality and they believe in the work we do. When there is a sense of belonging you can see,” he said.

‘Message delivered to the two recipients. Now the ball passes Kessie and Romagnoli, and their agents,’ the report concludes by saying.
