CM: Maldini needs sign from RedBird over Leao amid €90m Chelsea bid and Man City interest

RedBird Capital hold the key to Rafael Leao’s future as his price continues to rise and interest continues to grow, a report claims.

Calciomercato.com reports that Leao’s demonstration on the biggest stage of all (two assists in two Champions League games so far) adds an extra dynamic to the talks over the renewal of the contract expiring in 2024.

Over the summer his agent Jorge Mendes asked Milan for €7m net per season for his client to renew, but that amount destined to increase with the passing of the months and while he continues to be decisive for Stefano Pioli.

At the moment there are no new meetings planned with the leadership of the Rossoneri, who are also waiting for signals from the new patron Cardinal to understand if there will be the funds made available to satisfy Leao and his agent, by which time the demands could be €8-9m per year.

Time is running out and threats are becoming more and more concrete, as Chelsea offered €90m towards the end of August and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are lurking. Maldini is relying on the will of the player, but also needs some signs from RedBird.
