Massara admits there is a chance Milan could not sign a player in January: “The possibility exists”

AC Milan sporting director Ricky Massara has refused to rule out the possibility that the club might not sign a player this month.

With the January transfer window having opened a few days ago, there are calls from supporters for the Rossoneri to strengthen in a couple of key areas in order to bolster the squad available to head coach Stefano Pioli, who has steered the team to first place in the standings after 16 games of the new season.

There continues to be a number of players linked including the likes of Strasbourg centre-back Mohamed Simakan and Torino midfielder Soualiho Meite, but at the moment it does not seem like a deal for any target is imminent, something which is already leaving some quite restless.

Massara spoke to DAZN about the Milan transfer market, and admitted there is a chance that fans are left disappointed.

“Possibility that Milan will close the window without signings? Yes, the possibility exists if there are no conditions that convince us or valid opportunities to give the right contribution to the team,” he said (via MilanNews).

“In difficulty, the workforce has proven to be always competitive despite the absences so we are calm. All in a general context of a very static market that does not help in negotiations.”
