Mayor Sala comments on arrest of ultras: “It was in the air something was wrong”

City Mayor Giuseppe Sala has welcomed the arrests and the investigations into the leading ultras from AC Milan’s Curva Sud and Inter’s Curva Nord, suggesting it was obvious that something wasn’t right with their dealings.

It was announced yesterday that the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office had arrested a number of key figures from Inter’s Curva Nord and Milan’s Curva Sud during Monday morning on charges of criminal association, and more information is now coming to light.

Now, the Mayor of Milano has commented on the investigation while arriving for a presentation of the 10th National Observatory of Sustainable Lifestyle by LifeGate, with his comments relayed by Calciomercato.com.

“What happened was very bad, but what the Prosecutor’s Office is doing was very good. It is clear that this is a situation that needs to be straightened out quickly because it was in the air that something was wrong,” he said.

“These investigations have led to the discovery of a series of issues that are obviously a problem for our city and for our country. So pay close attention to what is happening.”

Sala does not think that the suggestions the two clubs could go into administration as a protective measure can and will influence the dialogue on the new stadium.

“With respect to the administration hypothesis , we remember that for a certain moment we had the Fiera in similar conditions and today it is in a splendid situation. So we get through the problems.”
