CorSera: Milan’s 2022 summer mercato a failure so far – the squad has got weaker

AC Milan’s 2022 summer transfer window has again come under fire from the media, with claims that the squad is currently weaker than last season’s.

This morning’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes that the last Milan summer transfer market has been a failure because so far none of the new signings have brought anything like a meaningful contribution.

The symbol of this failure certainly Charles De Ketelaere as per the paper, who has one assist but has not scored a goal yet after netting 18 times for Club Brugge last season convincing Milan to pay over €30m to sign him. He didn’t even come off the bench on Saturday in Lecce.

At the moment, the Diavolo are weaker than last year, when Franck Kessie offered a strong alternative in the midfield double pivot (and even as a number 10 at times) and the then-captain Alessio Romagnoli was part of the defensive rotations.
