More reports have emerged claiming that AC Milan have held talks with Granit Xhaka’s agents, and an agreement over terms is now close.

Xhaka is one of the names that has been repeatedly mentioned as a transfer target for Milan as they look to move into the post-Reijnders era. Last night, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the Swiss international has given the green light to joining, which is a big first step.
Xhaka to Milan: New talks
According to Calciomercato.com, Milan want to speed up the incoming market to give Massimiliano Allegri a regista. Xhaka is ideal, given his strong leadership characteristics that would blend well with the other elements already present in the squad, such as Youssouf Fofana.
Contacts with the entourage of the former Arsenal man in recent days have encouraged Milan to begin negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen. In other words, what that means is that Xhaka is open to a move to Milan.
Discussions over personal terms are ongoing and an agreement in principle now seems imminent. Igli Tare and co. will now have to convince Bayer Leverkusen to sell Xhaka but it will not be easy given they have lost Jonathan Tah, Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong already this summer.
Milan will start with an offer that will be close to €10m – bonuses included – to try to obtain the yes of Leverkusen. It feels doubtful that will be enough given his importance to them.
Matteo Moretto adds: “AC Milan have contacted Bayer Leverkusen for Granit Xhaka. Discussions between the two clubs have begun, with the Swiss midfielder having already said yes to the transfer. For Milan it is a priority objective.”
According to what was reported today by Tuttosport (via MilanPress), the Rossoneri will probably wait until July 1st to make an offer/make things official. It is the opening day of the summer transfer window, and there are fiscal reasons behind it (the operation would go on the next accounts).
