CM: Milan encouraged in pursuit of Botman as stance on potential Newcastle move emerges

AC Milan are pushing hard to try and sign their number one January target Sven Botman and they have a formula in mind, a report claims.

Calciomercato.com report that the Dutchman convinces everyone at Milan from the scouting area to the management to the ownership. Everyone is convinced that Botman’s profile is the right one to come in and cover for Kjaer’s absence, while he is also left-footed which could also make him the ideal replacement for Romagnoli as well if he were to leave.

There are a couple of things playing in Milan’s favour: the player is not convinced by the idea of moving to Newcastle United because he wants Champions League football, while Lille need to sell and raise money despite the sale of Ikoné to Fiorentina.

The Rossoneri are proceeding with caution, but now they are ready to take a step forward and a meeting with Lille is expected in the next few days to talk about a loan with option to buy deal that becomes an obligation under certain conditions.

If there is a discount on the €30m asking price that Lille have currently set for the 22-year-old and they open to the formula, things could really accelerate quickly.
