CM: Castillejo’s exit blocked despite interest from several LaLiga clubs and Genoa – the latest

Samu Castillejo is still not a part of AC Milan’s plans but a January exit seems to have become more complicated for the time being, a report claims.

According to Calciomercato.com, the fact that Stefano Pioli seems to prefer both Alexis Saelemaekers and Junior Messias on the right side means Castillejo’s prospects of playing time have decreased further, and there are several Spanish teams interested in making an offer.

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have offered the player out to LaLiga clubs such as Celta Vigo and Getafe but also Espanyol and Real Mallorca. The problem is that the former Villarreal man currently receives €2.5m net per year, with a contract expiry of June 2023.

Genoa have been keen on the 26-year-old since Andriy Shevchenko became head coach but now he might be leaving the club given the less than ideal start he has had. Even a loan is not easy because of the salary issue, so at the moment the Spaniard’s exit is blocked.
