Romano: Milan close to announcing renewal – ‘Almost ready and set to be signed soon’

AC Milan are closing in on being able to announce the renewal of Olivier Giroud amid a golden patch of form, according to Fabrizio Romano.

It is certainly a golden moment for Giroud in this first part of the 2022-23 season as the 36-year-old has scored 14 goals and has added six assists in just 25 games when factoring in his form for club and country.

That means a goal-scoring action in almost every game (0.8), with five goals and three assists in 13 Serie A matches, four goals and two assists in the Champions League, one goal and one assist in the Nations League and four goals at the World Cup in four appearances.

As reported on his Twitter profile, Fabrizio Romano reports that there is a meeting scheduled between Giroud’s agents and Milan that will take place after the World Cup to finalise the agreement on a new contract.

The new deal is ‘almost ready and set to be signed soon’ as per the journalist, and negotiations were made easier by the fact that all parties have the same intention: to continue together on what has been a positive journey for all involved.
