La Gazzetta dello Sport start by touching on Dest’s situation, given the full-back is on a season-long loan from Barcelona with an option to buy set at €20m. There are currently not many doubts surrounding his future, and the USA international is destined to return to Catalonia.
The amount needed to make him a permanent signing is high to begin with before factoring in his mostly poor performances, but in addition to that he was only signed because of the long-term injury to Alessandro Florenzi who is now about to return.
Vranckx too is on a season-long loan with an option to buy, from Wolfsburg, but the figure is set at the more affordable €12m. Despite this, it seems unlikely that the management will decide to spend that amount.
The most recent clue seems to be the strongest in this sense as Pioli decided not to include him in the Champions League squad list for the knockout phase, a clear sign that he doesn’t particularly believe in him.
