Last season the accusations were widely made that Milan were only as good as Leao was in each game and that the team could only attack down the left flank, where Theo Hernandez also got forward as well.
That put a lot of importance on the summer transfer window in terms of adding to the attacking department and strengthening other areas. The arrivals of Christian Pulisic, Samuel Chukwueze and even Luka Romero have helped.
The first three Serie A games against Bologna, Torino and Roma have highlighted how Milan’s attack is much more varied, not just in terms of spreading the play from the left to the right but also in the opportunities it opens for more varied build-up play.
So far Milan have had four different scorers across their three games: Olivier Giroud (4), Pulisic (2), Leao (1) and Theo (1). Milan are no longer Leao-dependent.
