A new name has entered AC Milan’s orbit as they look at potential midfield reinforcements: Sven Mijnans of AZ Alkmaar.

There has been a lot of speculation in the past few days about how Milan will prepare for a return to the Champions League, which they will secure barring a late collapse. One of the areas talked about most is the midfield, with Leon Goretzka apparently getting closer to joining.
MilanNews report that Luka Modric is expected to agree to activate the clause for his contract renewal once top four is in the bag. Then, the management are working to accommodate Massimiliano Allegri’s other requests, who has outlined the ideal midfield composition for the 2026-27 season.
A new name that has come up is Sven Mijnans of AZ Alkmaar, the same club that the Rossoneri signed Tijjani Reijnders from. Milan’s scouts have been following him for some time and they were also present at the Dutch Cup final won by AZ against NEC recently.
Mijnans scored the goal that made it 2-0 and also won the award for man of the match in the final. Reports on the 26-year-old Dutchman have been very positive, and he will certainly be considered, given his physical attributes (he is 1.95m tall).
This season, Mijnans has a rather remarkable record: he has scored 20 goals for Alkmaar in 46 games across all competitions, also adding eight assists. He has been playing mostly as a box-to-box midfielder or behind the strikers.
