MN: Milan and Leao waiting for May 17 – the truth regarding a potential sale

There is some noise surrounding Rafael Leao at the moment regarding the fact his renewal has not arrived and some rumours of a potential sale.

MilanNews write how the hope is that we can talk about Leao’s exploits on the field tomorrow night in Milan-Genoa at San Siro, while also hoping for developments off the field. Leao’s contract will expire in 2024, but as done with Theo Hernandez and Bennacer, Milan have laid the foundations for a two-year extension (until 2026) and a pay rise to €4-4.5m net per season.

The dispute with Sporting Lisbon and Lille regarding his transfer to France has caused a slow down, but on May 17 the Court of Milan will issue their verdict. Milan and Leao – for bureaucratic and judicial reasons – will wait at least until that date to re-discuss the renewal with greater certainty.

The desire of all parties involved is to extend the deal which is a fundamental starting point, but regardless of this if a huge offer should arrive of €70m upwards then a sale would be discussed, as it would for any player.
