Goal: Milan to miss out as Lyon midfielder has been convinced by Real Betis

AC Milan are set to miss out on the signing of Houssem Aouar as he has agreed a move to Real Betis on a free transfer, a report claims.

Calciomercato.com are among the sources to report that Milan – who are always on the hunt for discount deals – are interested in signing Aouar ahead of next season, adding that the playmaker has told his friends that he wants to join the Rossoneri.

According to Goal, Aouar has an agreement in place with LaLiga side Real Betis which will see him join them on a free transfer once his deal with Lyon expires at the end of the season.

The report adds that Inter were keen on signing Aouar and Betis’ big rivals Sevilla were also in the running, but his entourage are convinced that a move to the Benito Villamarin Stadium is a good next step in his career.

By joining Los Verdiblancos, Aouar would also reunite with his former team-mate Nabil Fekir who has remained a close friend and will have no doubt had a hand in convincing the 24-year-old to swap France for Spain and to resist possible advances from elsewhere.
