AC Milan will conduct their summer transfer window with an eye on Italian players who could come in and serve a dual purpose, a report claims.
MilanNews reports how signing players from abroad can be useful in terms of the Growth Decree tax relief scheme which offers a discount on the gross amount, but Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will also have to look at the market in Italy, i.e. those players who meet squad list requirements.
UEFA and Serie A regulations require each team to have four players who came through the academy of that club and four players who are ‘home grown’, meaning they played from ages 18 to 21 at another club in that country.
Losing Alessio Romagnoli and Franck Kessie is a blow to this (came through at Sampdoria and Atalanta respectively) and with Antonio Mirante’s renewal in doubt, something must be done to address things.
Italian academy graduates: Florenzi (who will be bought permanently), Tonali.
Milan academy graduates: Calabria, Gabbia, Pobega, Daniel Maldini, Plizzari (returning from loan).
If the above turns out to be true then Milan would need at least one other player who is home-grown and that could create issues given that prices for players within Serie A (look at Zaniolo and several Sassuolo players) are often inflated.
